The Boy Of The Night Part 4

Not recommended for people thirteen and under.

Sorry that it's taken a while, but I had a case of writer's block. I knew where I wanted to go with this, it was just how to get there that was the problem. After this, I'll try to get the special for Jake & Florence for The Clands Legacy out, since it's been forever since I posted anything on them!

       (Rae Vincent)

The moment Valentine's lips touched mine, I suddenly realized what he'd been telling me was true. There was someone out there who could love me, he could, and he had. Suddenly the words my father had been telling me since I could remember were nothing but a whisper. The words he'd told me less than an hour ago meant nothing as new words filled my head, Valentine's ", you can't believe what your father says, he knows nothing about the real you. He's blind to how extraordinary you are. I however, know the truth, and I do in fact, love you..."

As children, Valentine had been my best friend. Sure, I had friends besides him, but when high school came, those friends soon disappeared. Valentine was the only one of my childhood friends who was still my friend. I think I'd always had a crush on him. It must of been those glowing eyes I was so fond of.

Although the kiss itself was only a second, it felt like a life time. I wanted it to continue forever, and I wasn't even the romantic loving one of the two of us, Valentine was. Oh... Valentine, a romance lover, that was actually kind of cute.
From that day on, our relationship grew. I started to come over everyday Valentine's parents weren't home, and I'd always have a blast. No matter what my father did to me, Valentine could always make it better. He'd always had that power over me, to be able to change the way I was feeling so suddenly.

Even though many might consider him a disfigured monster, I knew that what was on the inside was something better. I noticed it the first time I met him. He was shy and timid, until he got to know me. Then he was off the walls, doing everything possible to please me. In return, I wanted to do something back, but what?

When Valentine and I were about to turn eighteen, we started to discuss our plans for the future. Both of us wanted to go into the film industry, but he wanted to be a director and I wanted to be an actress. Being stuck inside all the time, Valentine had watched every movie possible. You name a movie and he could explain the whole thing, including all the things they had to do to make it. He'd even been able to direct some short films that I helped him with. It was a dream of his to be able to be an actual director, just like my dream was to be an actress.
I'd always loved putting on plays and being in Valentine's movies, and I was amazing at it as well. Our class recently voted for who would be what when they grew up, and they voted me the most likely to make it on to the big screen. Of course, our careers wasn't the only thing we were discussing.

"So Rae," Valentine started as he put his arm around me ", is there anything you want to happen with us when we turn eighteen?"
"Well, I'd like to have our own place. Not too big, maybe a bedroom for us and enough room to build a custom room for the kids..."
"Kids?" Valentine asked excitedly, his eyes beginning to glow. Valentine had always wanted a family I'd come to learn ", how many?"
       "Oh, a dozen or two,"

"I can read minds you know, you want about four in reality," his hand starting to slide up and down my arm ", when would you like to start? When we start to have a steady income? When we're married? When were 30ish..."
"I don't really care," I admitted ", I kind of just want to start whenever you feel comfortable."
"If that's the case," his eyebrows started to raise, his hands starting to unzip my jacket ", I've been wanting my own children with you for three years now."
"Well, I wouldn't want to keep you waiting any longer, now would I?"

"I can wait longer yes," he said to me, suddenly violently planting his mouth to mind, his aggressive adrenaline quickly transferring to me as well "but why wait?"

(Valentine Schlick)

I never meant to be so straight forward with Rae, but that was what ended up happening. I didn't want to push something like this on her so suddenly when were still young, but her mind wanted it, she wanted to make me happy. I didn't know why she thought this was how to do that, because she'd already done that for me by just being by my side. My happiness was bout to go away though as I heard a voice yell at me from the door.
"VALENTINE VLADIMIR SCHLICK!!!!" I heard my mother yell. My greatest fear for Rae was coming true, my parents finding out about her ", what the hell are you doing with that human!?!?"

I got off of Rae and stood up to face my mother's wrath, ready to protect Rae if my mother were to attack ", you better of been getting ready to drink her clean, because if you were trying to sleep with her, you'd both be dead!"
"Fine, you caught me!" I told her ", I've been seeing a human, so what?"
"So what? SO WHAT!?!? Humans are nothing but a food source to us. We should be the ones ruling the planet, not them! I've taught you better than this! Your almost eighteen and you just start turning on our ways?"
"I've been going against them for eleven years mom!" her eyes widened with disbelief ", you... you no good son of mine! I do not know you anymore!" She tried to grab my neck to choke me, but I instead caught her arm and threw her into my bookshelf, it coming down on top of her.
"Rae!" I yelled at her as she sat on the couch frightened, unsure what to do ", get out of here, and whatever you do, don't look back!"

(Rae Vincent)

And I did exactly that, I got out of there, trying to not look back as I heard Valentine crying in pain as his mother came back to finish him off. I ran out of the door of Valentines's apartment, down the hall and down the stairs, down to my floor and into my apartment, then into my room, locking the door behind me. I didn't know what I was to do, or where to go, but my room was my sanctuary from my father, so that seemed to be the place to go when I was in the heat of the moment. After thinking about it, I realized it was a horrible idea, Valentine's mother could come after me at anytime and finish me off as well.

I didn't leave though, I didn't know where else to go. Valentine's place had always been one of my places to get away from trouble, but now it was the cause of the trouble. I put on one of my jackets and tried not to cry. What if Valentine got seriously injured? What if he wasn't able to stop his mother from coming after me. What if... he died. I knew vampires weren't incapable of dying, so it sent unbearable fear as I thought about what would happen to Val if he were to be killed. He was my best friend, the love of my life, I couldn't lose him, I couldn't.

The Boy Of The Night Part 3

Warning! May contain subjects that are sensitive to some people. Not recommended for people thirteen and under (sorry about that). This is when the story starts to get a little dark.

If you haven't read the previous parts of this story, here is the link to finding them

(Rae Vincent)

Valentine was so excited when I actually came back. He tried hard not to smile too much or too big, or else I would see his immature fangs that hadn't fully grown. He didn't know that I already knew what he was, but if I told him I did know, I'd seem like some sort of creeper. I really did want to be his friend, and I didn't want to scare him off, or him scaring me. Just because he seemed like he would never hurt a fly, that didn't mean he couldn't.
"So... I've never had anyone over before," he admitted ", what do people do when someone comes over?"

"Well, we could talk about ourselves some more, or go play some board games, or..." I stopped for a moment, thinking about whether I should say the rest ", get something to eat."
"You know what I am, don't you?" Valentine confronted me ", you know that I'm... a vampire."
"I had some hints, yes, like the crate of plasma juice I saw your dad bring in, you being sensitive to the sun, although I'm not sure why you're more affected by it than your parents, and your baby fangs you keep trying to hide."
"Ya, I've been trying to hide them but... I'm just so glad to have someone over!" he then bent his head toward the floor, suddenly becoming overly shy ", are you scared of me?"
       "Scared?"
"Ya, are you afraid I might... try and hurt you?"
"Kind of, yes," I might be a brave girl, but the thought of being hurt anymore scared me. I was abused enough at home by my dad, I didn't need to get hurt anymore than I was.

"You don't have to be," he assured me ", I'm not a violent person... actually a vampire, but you know what I mean. I might crave blood, but I'm very controlled about it. I always have some sort of plasma in my reach if I do get hungry, but even then, I don't need it that often."
"Should this be grossing me out?"
       "Perhaps,"
"Well I'm not," and it didn't. I somehow found it very interesting. I'd never been one for blood, but the way Valentine said it, it made me want to know more.
"That's weird," he admitted to me ", I find blood disgusting, and I need it in order to live! Well, I'm actually undead, but once gain, you know what I mean."
"Were you born this way?" I asked in full curiosity ", I don't see how it's possible to be born undead."
"Vampires are not creatures of science Rae," he tried to convince me ", we're creatures of darkness, death, and magic all put together into one blood thirsty monster."

"You don't seem like a monster to me. You're way to nice to be something so horrible," as I called his type horrible, I could see sadness wash over his face, like he knew it to be true, but didn't want it to be. He didn't deserve to be this way. He should of had a  chance at being human, to be able to go outside while the sun was out ", but that doesn't mean you're horrible. You're different somehow, but I just can't pin-point how or why. You just don't seem like you could kill anyone."
"But that's all my kind is, killing innocent people just so we can survive, and we're not even alive! Why do humans have to suffer from us just trying to continue to live?"
"And why do you have to suffer from not being able to go into the sun?" I asked, trying to give him a picture in his mind before I continued on with what I was going to say ", we don't know why things happen, but they do for a reason. We can't let who we are get in the way of what we want to be."
"But all I want to be is alive, to go outside during the day and have it not burn me, to be able to make friends and be with people, doing things normal people would do. How can I be that Rae? There is no possible way for me to do just that."
I thought about it for a moment, thinking over what Valentine had told me. He really did have it hard, but maybe he could be what he wanted, but in a different sense. Maybe, believing he wasn't a monster was all he needed to do, that and have someone to be there for him ", you might not be able to actually do those things, but you can stop believing your something you're not."
       "What do you mean?"

(Valentine Schlick)

During that first time of Rae and I hanging out, Rae told me not believe I was something I wasn't. I might be a vampire by birth, but I wasn't one by heart. After she came over the first time, she kept coming over and over, but I couldn't understand why. What did she see in me? I was a monster, plain and simple. Why was she trying to convince me I was something I wasn't? It worked however, she finally did convince me I wasn't a horrible creature. Just because I was a vampire, it didn't mean I was some terrifying monster, and her coming over all the time was what finally convinced me that I wasn't. She wasn't afraid of me, no matter what I did that seemed out of the ordinary for a human, she still came over. Everyday, she told me how much fun she had and how she couldn't wait to come back. I always told her what days she couldn't come, because those where the days my parents were home, and they wouldn't be so pleased with me being friends with a human.

My parents didn't believe that human's should be around except to be breed and drained of blood. They thought vampires were the superior species, and that humans were just their food supply. Those who were turned into a vampire were "chosen" as they would say, to be part of being the high end of the food chain. I knew what my parents would do if they found out about Rae, but I was determined to have her as my friend. You know why?...

... because I've met anyone like Rae. Her personality fascinated me, and whenever I looked into her eyes, I always thought I was alive, but how could that be? I was born dead!

I wasn't until I became a teenager and I hadn't seen Rae for a while did I realize why she made me feel so alive. When Rae wasn't at my place, I was reading romance novels, my favorite being Beauty And The Beast. The Beast somehow reminded me of myself, scarred by ugliness and doomed to be that way forever, but in the end, he found someone who could except him for him, and it was then he became beautiful. I didn't know who my beauty was yet, but she had to be one of the most amazing people out there, to be able to love a face like mine she would have to be. I had been reading the part where the Beast realizes his feelings for the beautiful and smart girl when Rae came in.
"Hey Val," she said to me as she threw her school bag on to my stone alter, AKA my bed ", sorry I haven't been coming as often, but I've been... ahhhh... having some issues at home."
I hadn't been able to tell Rae that I've recently started to get some of my vampire powers, one being mind reading. So when I saw her thinking about her problems at home, I wasn't too pleased with the situation back at her house. Just one image of her father touching her in a manor he shouldn't of been sent me on a rage ", your father is abusing you?!?!"
"What are you talking about Val?"
"I've recently been getting some of my powers, mind reading being one of them, and what I just saw isn't how a father should be treating his daughter. Are you okay? How badly did he hurt you?"

"You can read minds now?" she asked ", are you able to control it?"
"No, I can't. It just happens and it's random, but that's not important right now, your safety is."
"If wish there was something I could do, but this has been having ever since I was a baby," sure enough images of Rae's childhood popped into my head. Why did someone so smart, caring and beautiful have to go through something so terrible? Wait... did I say beautiful?

I looked up at Rae's face after not seeing it for a couple weeks. There went my uncontrollable feelings of somehow being alive but not at the same time. For a moment I thought my heart was actually beating. Somehow sweat started to drip down my forehead as I continued to look at her. Could it be possible that Rae was my Beauty? I'd always thought she was pretty, and I'd realized as a boy that I felt differently about her than everyone else I'd met. To continue the matter, I always thought I read romance novels because I found them easy to engage in, but maybe it was because I knew something was missing in my life. Rae might of been my friend, but there was more to how I was feeling about her than meets the eye. I truly did believed that I loved her, and I was determined to help her anyway I could.
"Rae," I closed my eyes and tried not look at her for a second ", I know what he's been doing to you physically, but what has your father been calling you?"
"Useless, unwanted, ugly, stupid, the list goes on. Why do you ask?"
I opened my eyes, looking straight into hers, wondering how much pain she was actually going through and been hiding from me ", do you believe what he's been telling you?"
She was quiet for a moment, but her mind was very active. She was starting to think about all the hours she'd spent hiding in her room, crying over what she believed to be true, that she was unloved. Her eyes filled with tears as she nodded yes to me.

I walked over to where she was crying, putting my arms around her to try and comfort my best friend. She'd been there for me, helping me to become who I wanted to be, now it was my turn to be here for her
", Rae, don't believe what he's been telling you. You're not any of the horrible things he's been calling you. You are loved, I don't know where I'd be without you."
"And I don't know where I'd be without you Val, " she said to my surprise ", whenever I think that no one cares about me, I think of you. You were always trying to make my day better, even if you were having a terrible day yourself. You didn't know what was going on, but you still tried to be there for me. Thank you," but you couldn't possibly love me, no one ever could.
"You do realize I heard that right?" I asked her, stoking her back to help relax and get rid of any tension going on. She seemed so strong, but on the inside she was fragile, just like I was.
       "But it's true... isn't it?"
"You can't believe what your father says, he knows nothing about the real you. He's blind to how extraordinary you are. I however, know the truth, and I do in fact, love you... more than you think."

Rae's back finally loosened up, her muscles calmed down and I could sense her mind coming to grasp that what I was saying was the real truth ", I'm loved? You mean it?"
"Why would I ever lie about something like this to you Rae? It's the full truth, I do love you."
Rae was mostly convinced, but a thought popped up in her head causing some doubt, and not the type I thought she'd be thinking, does he love me the way I love him? Does he love me as just a friend or...
"I love you more than a friend Rae," I interrupted her ", there is only one person who could ever make me feel this alive while being undead, you."
She didn't understand, especially as I began to let go of her ", why are you letting go? You admit to loving me back, but then you let go of me! Are you lying or just plain..."

I'm sorry if this was a sensitive part of the story for you. I know it can be hard, I have friends and family I'm really close to that have gone through this stuff. I haven't gone through any of it myself, but I know that when something reminds you of something you wish never happened, that you tend to feel terrible. I am once again sorry if I made anyone upset.

The Boy Of The Night Part 2

Thank you everyone who read the first section of my story and decided to keep reading. If you're new and haven't read Part 1, you can just click here

(Valentine Schlick)

I never thought I'd see the day where my parents would move us to the inner city. I knew they'd wanted a penthouse for a while now, but I hadn't expected to actually move into one. I was going to miss the view of the water and the bridge, now I just had a view of a building from my window. My room was smaller, I had to get rid of half my stuff, I wasn't happy let's just say. Not only that, but they got rid of our old butler and replaced him with someone completely different. Now I was truly lonely, not a friend in the world to be there for me, and me for them.
A few minutes after the Grandfather Clock struck 9, I heard a knock at the door and tried to ignore it, but something inside me said to go and open it, this time is different... and it was.

Creaking the door slightly to see who it was, I noticed a girl my age, long light brown hair and eyes, with freckles scattered all over her face. When she looked at me through the door, she didn't seem to be started by my glowing eyes, a first from anyone who wasn't a vampire.
Trying to not be rude, I quietly said hello to her. She smiled a little and told me her name ", hi, I'm Rae. I came to meet you."
She'd come to see me? No one had ever come to meet my family, they were all to scared to come, but this girl didn't seem startled at all. In fact, she seemed excited to meet me, like it was a long time wish of some sort. Why she decided to come so late was a whole other question.
"At nine at night?" I asked her, wanting to get an answer from this mystery girl.
       "Is that a problem?"
"No, it actually fits quite well with my schedule," with me being a vampire and everything. I slowly opened the door some more, not realizing what I was doing until it was too late. I'd accidentally let his girl see my deformed face, but she didn't seem scared or taunted by it. What was with this Rae girl? Was she blind to my appearance, or did she not care? Maybe if i gave myself the time to get to know her, I'd find the answer ", it's nice to meet you Rare, I'm Valentine Schlick... would you like to come inside to talk some more?"

(Rae Vincent)

"Sure," I answered after he asked if I wanted to come inside. He gave a small grin as he opened the door for me, showing his growing fangs for just a second. What was I getting myself into? This was a vampire! He could kill me in an instant if he wanted, but he didn't seem like a cold blooded killer. He looked more like someone who was lost, just wanting someone to talk like he'd asked.
"Thanks for coming over," he thanked me as I came in ", I never have any guests, especially people my age. It gets lonesome being here alone as you could guess."
       "Don't you have your parents?"
"Yes, but they have too much to do throughout the day already, my dad being a movie star and my mother a model. Then they're out the whole night, going to parties and such."
"Why don't you go out with them during the day? I'm sure they'd love it!"
       "I'm sure they would, but I can't."
"Don't you go to some high quality school, with your family being rich it would seem."
"I can't, I'm allergic to the sun," huh? That didn't make any sense though. How could his parents go into the sun if they were vampires, but he couldn't? ", my parents have some trouble with the sun, but not as severe as me. I can't even go outside for a moment while the sun is out or else you get these scars all over my face."
Suddenly I didn't care if he was a vampire or not. The scars on his face were horrible looking, and he'd gotten them from just being out in the sun for a moment? That didn't seem fair at all. Why could his parents go outside, while he couldn't even look at the sun without terribly hurting himself?

"I'm sorry about that. If it helps, I'm allergic to peanuts."
       "Peanuts?"
"Yep, if I eat it, my throat swells up and I can't breath."
"That's terrible, not as bad as being allergic to the sun, but still bad. You can't have any sort of peanuts? That stuff is in everything it seems!"
"I know, and it's really embarrassing when you have to decline something to eat because you don't know if it has peanuts in it or not. I'm made fun of all the time for it too. One day, someone played a prank on me and squirted peanut oil on me, and I had a rash for a week. People can be so mean, it's almost criminal!"
"So I'm not missing much by being stuck in my room?"
"Not really, be glad you don't have to deal with the outside world. it's not a nice place to be."
"I still wish I could have someone to talk to more often," he started to rub his arm up and down like he was nervous ", I used to have my butler, but we recently got a new one."
"Do you have any friends at all?"
       "No,"

(Valentine Schlick)

"Well I'd like to be your friend then," she told me after I told her about not having any friends. If I had a working heart, it would of jumped for joy over and over. She wanted to be my friend? She actually wanted to be my friend? What about my scars, my scary appearance and fangs I'd once again accidentally shown her? Did she really not care about them?
"But... what about my face?" I asked ", don't you find it at all horrifying?"
"No, not really. I'm not much for what someone looks like on the outside, but what's on the inside, and I see a boy I want to get to know better."
"You actually want to be my friend? I just can't believe this! When do you want to come over?"
       "How about tomorrow at four?"
       "Four in the morning?"
She giggle a little, giving me a huge smile ", no silly. Four in the afternoon! I'm asleep at four AM!"
"Oops, sorry about that," I felt my cheeks turn red for a moment. Why on earth did I think she would come that early in the morning? ", I'm not used to people coming during the day hours. No one is here most of the time except for me."
"Well that's about to change," she told me ask she opened the front door, walking out into the hall waving goodbye ", see you tomorrow Valentine! I can't wait to see your pretty eyes again!"
She thinks my eyes are pretty? I thought to myself, but before I could ask more, she closed the door in front of her. I could get used to having Rae as a friend, she was more mysterious than I was!

The Boy Of The Night Part 1

(Valentine Schlick)

"Master?" my butler asked as he walked into my room, being careful not to get any sunlight on me ", is there anything you... close that window now!"
I didn't even flinch, why should I close the window? The sun looked so beautiful as it started to come up over the waters of Bridgeport.  Why couldn't I just look even for a moment before I'd have to close the curtains?
"Did you not hear me master?"
"Yes, I did. I'm just choosing not to listen."
"But if the sun were to hit your skin..."
"I know," I interrupted him ", do you really think I don't know? I have the scars to prove I know, so stop pestering me and let me watch the sunrise before I have to close the curtain," why did I have to be this way? Being unable to go into any sort of sunlight in fear that it would burn my skin. When I was just three, I finally got tired of my parents trying to keep me inside after the sun began to rise up into the morning sky until it set and the moon's light replaced it. While my father and my butler weren't looking, I walked right out the door when the sun started to come up. The moment the light hit my face, it started to burn into my skin, causing pain so unbearable and overwhelming, I though I was going to die, and I almost did. At the time my parents didn't know I was deadly allergic to the sun, but after that first, and last encounter, they knew full well I wasn't like the others. Vampires can be in the sun for a little while before it starts to smolder their skin, but I? As I've already said, just a little sunlight and I will burn on the spot.

My butler shook his head in a displeasing manor ", come now Valentine," he said as he started to close the curtain ", it's time to darken your room before the sun comes up."
       "But..."
"I'll play some chess with you today if you do what you say," he walked to the door and opened it ", I'll get the chess set while you close the curtains."
       "But..."
       He left.
Letting out a huge sigh as I stood up to close the curtain like my butler had said, I thought about my life so far. I had no one, my parents worked, all the kids in the neighborhood thought I was a demon, and I'd never even left my house, even at night. My butler was my only friend, except he was paid to take care of me and make me happy so I don't count him as a real friend, and that is what I wanted more than anything in the world. I wanted someone to not care about my scars, my fangs or my glowing eyes, but most of all, someone would come see me not just at night when the sun was gone and I could go out of my room, but someone would come see me during the day when I couldn't leave. There was no way however that anyone could ever want to be my friend though. I was a monster, I drank blood and I looked like a deformed little boy who'd gotten into too many fights.
"It's hopeless," I whispered to myself as I sat down on my chair again, looking at the closed curtain ", I'm sure there is someone out there for me, there has to be..."

"But who on earth could possible want to be friends with someone with such an ugly face as this?"

(Rae Vincent)

I knew our neighbors were vampires the moment I saw them. They did everything possible to avoid the sun, moving into their apartment at night for example, and I saw the man accidentally drop some plasma juice while he was moving a whole box of them. Not to mention I also saw the lady's fangs as she smiled at her husband. Yep, that was it, they were vampires. After asking about them, my parents explained that our neighbors were the Schlick family, a group of three vampires would been around for a long time and had acquired fame and fortune from their long years, except their seven year old son, which was almost never seen for some reason, and he'd never show his face if he was out.
My mother told me not to go over to their place, but me being me, you tell me to not do something I WILL do it. So when I found myself standing outside their place, I knew I would get into trouble if my mother found out I was dead, drained of blood, but of course I'd be dead so it wouldn't matter. Besides, I wanted to finally meet a real vampire. Not only that, they were famous! I couldn't resist!

I knocked on the door and waited. For a moment I thought no one was home. It was after all now 9:00, and they'd probably be out downtown trying to find someone to fill their thirst and...
The door slowly creaked open after I turned to leave. Looking back I saw a pair of glowing yellow eyes, peaking through the crack ", hello?" the person behind the door asked.
"Hi, I'm Rae. I came to meet you."
       "At nine at night?"
       "Is that a problem?"
"No, it actually fits quite well with my schedule," more proof that the person behind the door was a vampire. The person slowly opened the door some more, just enough for me to notice the scars that were all over his face. They looked like they would hurt, and I couldn't imagine how he got them ", It's nice to meet you Rae, I'm Valentine Schlick."

Sneak Peaks/Behind the Scenes 8-1-12

The gym I'm using in all of the specials. It's where the prom is going to be held, and there is going to be a lot of drama going on, but isn't that what proms are made of? It's still a working progress, but I'm getting the hang of it.

I think I have the inside done, now for the outside though. Maybe while I'm camping I'll come up with some ideas. And since this is sneaks peaks/behind the scenes, I have three very different Ieuan looks for you to look at. One is one of him as a child, the other two is his original look and what he looks like now.

The Ieuan you all know and love...

The original Ieuan as a child. I'm not sure which one I like better, maybe the second ones hair and the first one's clothes. Now for a look at him as a teenager...

Ieuan's original teenager look. I'm so glad I went with the second one.

Can anyone see why I like this look better? I think he looks way better this way. He's such a sweetie for being such a grump. That's it for the Sneak Peaks/Behind The Scenes for now.
